Chongqing Zoo Travel Guide
Highlights, Roles, and Travel Information

Chongqing Zoo is one of China's leading urban zoos, beloved by locals as a relaxing space surrounded by lush greenery despite being located in the city center. Its greatest feature is that it is a "hidden gem for pandas," boasting one of the largest numbers of giant pandas outside of Chengdu. The new panda enclosure, which opened in 2023, is particularly popular, providing a more natural environment for the pandas and allowing visitors to observe their adorable behavior up close. Inside the zoo, visitors can see rare animals that represent China, including pandas, red pandas, and giant salamanders, making it an animal paradise perfect for a casual stop during city sightseeing.

1. Main Highlights

🐼 Panda Area - The Biggest Attraction

• Red Panda Forest:
Red pandas, which have a different charm to giant pandas, are also popular. You can observe them gliding lightly through the trees and basking in the sun.

• Animals unique to China: You can see rare animals unique to China, such as the golden monkey and the giant salamander, the world's largest amphibian and known as a living fossil.
